I wasn't sure what words belonged to which vocab sets, so I'll post one from each set:
ReplyDeleteThe turtle was under the impression that it would live to fight another day, but unfortunately it was wrong.
The turtle could lie in the grass for the night, but this spot would pose as a transient one; he must keep moving to avoid the truck driver.
The cordial feeling of rain on the turtle’s back was not enough to make him feel better. After all, he had just gotten run over by a truck, and it would take quite a bit more than some rain to make him feel better.
The tires impinged the turtle, and it was no more.
The little five year old girl was dressed in her pink tutu and tights, but her sweet exterior only masked her dogmatic interior.
ReplyDeleteThe school boy wore an affable smile on his face as he entered his first day of kindergarten.
Although he felt it was quite a profound endeavor at the time, his facetious prank in the staff lounge left a poor impression on the substitute science teacher. Once convicted of the crime, his parents sanctioned his use of electronic devices and he returned to school on Monday subdued and rather melancholy because he would be disconnected for an entire week.

Instead of seeming simply assertive, her dogmatism came off as rude and arrogant.
