Agenda, January 12
- Due Now: "The Gospel of Wealth," by Andrew Carnegie (1889). We'll cite it together.
- Due Now: Optional
revision of Money Narrative. 700-800 words. Highlight changes on new
draft. Paper clip new draft on top of old. Be sure you know what you
need to work on.
- Due Tuesday, 1/16: "On Dumpster Diving," by Lars Eighner (1993), from 50 Essays, 3rd edition. Add it to your bib.
- Due Tuesday, 1/16: Vocab Styx. Typed. This assignment has a unique requirement: you must post one sentence that includes a properly punctuated colon to the blog.
Today's Agenda
- A structural analysis of Andrew Carnegie's "The Gospel of Wealth"
- Argument o' the Week (doubtfully)
Procedure:
- As a group, agree upon the structure of the essay. Some of the breaks in the handout will help; others will be less useful.
- Every individual should write a two-sentence intro.
- Assign one group member to write a paragraph about the opening, one to write about the close, and two to write one paragraph each about the middle.
- Each individual should write his or her paragraph in a google doc. Share that doc with me.
- When everyone is done, assemble that doc into a complete essay. Use footnotes to let me know who wrote which paragraph. Share that doc with me, too.
