• Due Now: "On Compassion," by Barabara Lazear Ascher, from 50 Essays, 2nd Edition

• Due Now: Complete and accurate Bibliography. Include "The Atlanta Exposition Address" and "On Compassion."
• Due Monday: "The Communist Manifesto," by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, from 100 Great Essays. Add it to your Bibliography. Scribble all over it. 
• Due Monday: Optional revision of narrative. Speak to me about your word count before you revise. Clip new copy on top of previous drafts. Post new word count on first page of new draft. Highlight changes on newdraft. 
• Due Tuesday, January 19: Write a 4-7 page synthesis paper that answers the question "What, if anything, is society's obligation to the poor?" Build your essay around classroom readings and independent research.
