Make Daniel king. Over throw the teachers while fighting West Linn, and never give up. Afterwards we need to eat bacon for our strength. We have to be homeless in space and learn AP Chemistry to kick brick walls with toothpicks under our toe nails. Call the media Satan. Then procrastinate in our lifestyle, preferably while drinking margaritas. We need to find our perfect match through online dating and talking to strangers.
The Advil and ice pack temporarily alleviated the pain in my ankle from my softball game.

DeleteOk, Erin I looked up the word asylum and it means shelter or protection from danger. However I do believe that it is synonymous with comfort, because those who seek asylum are looking to be free from danger. Wouldn't it be appropriate to seek asylum from your mom when you are hurt or have a nightmare?

ReplyDeleteI think that the sentence is funny because, sanction in noun form is a threatened penalty for disobeying a rule, but in verb form means to give permission. So depending on how that was read permission or punishment was given out. I may be wrong though.
I'm going to assume the reason it is funny is based off the punishment definition, and I can think of not one high school-er that would be happy with harsher punishments for cell phones... If it was the other definition, it would just be true.

DeleteOOPS I know what happened. In my definitions I made it clearer for me by defining "spurious" as "bogus"my brain automatically substituted the two when I typed it, sorry. :D My sentence should be:

ReplyDeleteI love the imagery in the second half of your sentence. As a matter of style, though, "fabricated a false story" is redundant. When you say "fabricated a story," the implication is the story is false.

ReplyDeleteI think that the sentence is funny, but confusing as well. In the noun form sanction means penalty and in the verb form it means permission or approval. The sentence has a double meaning to it in a negative and positive way.
I also know that our principle would never do that.
I also think that there is no use in her approval or penalty because students will still find ways to use their cellphones without the teachers noticing.
